For profit insurance companies are dictating to doctors what tests can be done. If they deny the test then you can't get a diagnosis or treatment that costs the insurance company money. They are also buying pharmacies and denying payment to doctors until they go out of business. Then the insurance companies are trying to buy out physicians. United Health is one of the biggest abusers and right now the government is looking at using them for VA healthcare.
2 Bills below have been introduced to try to stop these monopolies. What I do not know is if there are protections for providers (doc) from NOT being paid to put them out of business so insurance companies can buy them too.
Please call your congressmen and tell them what you think of these 2 bills and what you think about using United Health for VA care. Number for the switchboard where you can ask to speak to your representative is 202-224-3121
1.Patients Before Monopolies Act It would break up the vertical integration of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and pharmacies. The bill would prohibit a parent company of an insurer or PBM from owning a pharmacy business and would require divestment within three years
2. Bipartisan Legislation to Force Health Insurers and PBMs to Sell Off Pharmacies The goal is to reduce drug costs and protect independent pharmacies by preventing these large conglomerates from manipulating the market
Also can businesses start using NON-profit insurance companies so their employees can get care they need (see list below)? Could the government use a non-profit for VA care? What are your thoughts? Any other ideas
