Improve Balance and Reduce Falls – LessBarriers

As you age preventing falls increases the quality of your life and can allow you to age in place longer. These are 5 exercises to improve your balance and reduce your risk of falls.

1. Arms straight out standup from sitting in a chair & sit down repeat x30

2. Leg Swings forward and backward x 30 per each leg

3. Leg swings to the side (hip abduction) x 30 per each leg

4. Stand on one leg and balance for 30 sec, switch try other leg x 30

5. Standing flat on feet then move feet up so standing on tip toe repeat x30

(Use chair or tabletop if you need assistance to balance)
Consult your OT / PT on other ways to age healthier
