Took my husband into the ER earlier this week thinking he might have pneumonia since he was having issues breathing and last week had some days with an elevated temp. After testing, an ambulance ride to a bigger hospital and further testing they found he had partially collapsed lungs. This was caused by large clots in both lungs which are called Pulmonary Embolisms (PEs).
One thing I learned was that temperatures can be caused by CLOTS, not just infections. If you have a combo of the following symptoms get to an ER quick:
- Elevated temperature
- Elevated heart beat above 100 beats/min
- Breathing issues (coughing or hypER-ventalation: excessive breathing)
- Pain in the chest
- Sweating
He did not have a heart attack and the large clots were removed. He is lucky to be alive. If he had waited another day he probably would not be here now. If you are having the above issues please do not wait, go get checked out ASAP.
THANK YOU to all the hospital staff that helped him!

Preventative measures to reduce clotting in the heart (heart attack), brain (stroke) & lungs (PE). Speak to your doctor about healthy:
+ diet that includes fish oil help thin blood.
+ Exercise your body and do not sit for prolonged periods of time without getting up and stretching.
If you are wheelchair bound you may want to look into stand-up wheelchairs or clotting tests (light blue topped tubes) from your doctor to see if you are higher risk and need blood thinners.
